We reached something of a milestone in the garden today:  We were able to make a complete salad with all home-grown vegetables.  It was a simple composition—mixed lettuces, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes—and it was simply delicious.

We still have a long way to go before everything in the bowl is local.  Wine vinegar would not be too much effort but even if we were to plant olive trees today, it would be years before we could press oil.  And I’m not even sure where to begin with salt and pepper…
